There is a notable quote about training from Queen Elizabeth II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II), which makes a lot of sense for all professionals … “It’s all to do with the training: you can do a lot if you’re properly trained.”
I like this quote because it shows the value of getting the proper training, so “you can do a lot”, or we can say “perform at a high level”, as many employee reviews call it. And what is nice about the SQL Server database field, is that there is a lot of training that is available. With that being said, there are two upcoming events that I feel provide good training:
- September 9, 2014 – 24 Hours of PASS, which is essentially the Summit preview and is FREE (http://www.sqlpass.org/24hours/2014/summitpreview/About.aspx)
- November 4-7, 2014 – SQL PASS Summit 2014, which is hosted in Seattle, WA (http://www.sqlpass.org/summit/2014/Home.aspx)
Personally, I would suggest registering at least for the FREE training. But, I would also try to convince your employer to send you for the paid training, because it will be definitely worth it.
